Senna spectabilis, commonly called Candelillo (in Spanish) es un árbol que se distribuye dese México hasta Venezuela y las Antillas. Alcanza una altura entre 4 a 18 metros. Se cultiva en zonas con clima templado, en una exposición soleada y suelos bien drenados. Es de rápido crecimiento y una especie muy usada para conservación de sueles. According to Tropica Plants Database (n.d.) the tree is harvested from the wild for local use as a medicine to treat ringworm, skin diseases and has antifungal activity. It is also used as a source of wood. It can be grown as a hedge and, because it produces an abundance of bloom over a long flowering period.
