Jicaro, Crescentia alata, is a tree of great importance for ethnobotany, the Mayans used their dried fruits for the manufacture of bowls. In addition, jicaro has a significant nutritional value and has antibacterial properties, so it is also considered as a medicinal plant. Due to its importance for the elaboration of utensils, its medicinal and nutritional value, it is a species of interest for students and researchers.
